AD…oooh!

Okay, so lately I’ve come to the conclusion that I have a strong chance of having ADD. “You’re crazy.” “You’re overreacting.” “You’re just an idiot.” “You’re just lazy.” Yes, now that those are out of the way, here’s why I’m suspicious.
The Amen clinic tests:
These tests are a battery of symptoms that you rank how often they happen to you. Here are the first 7:
1. Fails to give close attention to details or makes careless mistakes
2. Trouble sustaining attention in routine situations (i.e., homework, chores, paperwork)
3. Trouble listening
4. Fails to finish things
5. Poor organization for time or space (such as backpack, room, desk, paperwork)
6. Avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort
7. Loses things
That’s like my daily routine right there 🙁 But it gets better. Here are some other notables:
Excessive daydreaming
Fidgety, restless or trouble sitting still (this happens so much)
Blurts out answers before questions have been completed
Interrupts or intrudes on others (e.g., butts into conversations or games)
Tendency to get locked into a course of action, whether or not it is good
Periods of feeling dizzy, faint or unsteady on your feet (very brief periods though)
Excessive fear of being judged or scrutinized by others
Poor handwriting(it’s soooooooo bad)
Irritability tends to build, then explodes, then recedes, often tired after a rage (this no longer happens as often, thankfully)
Frequent periods of deja vu (feelings of being somewhere you have never been)
Periods of forgetfulness or memory problems
That’s the subtype evaluation, there are more general symptoms like these three:
Chronically late or chronically in a hurry
Often have piles of things
Easily overwhelmed by tasks of daily living
And there are lots others. So yeah, I was real freaked out yesterday by how many of these symptoms I have. Two mitigating factors at least. 1) many of those are just a symptom of a modern on the go lifestyle. 2) I tend to talk myself into thinking I have a problem, like I did with thinking I needed glasses and thinking I had a digestive system problem…oh wait I do need glasses and have a digestive system problem…. Okay, so one mitigating factor then. But it’s a good one. So I need to have someone fill out the test for me and see if they notice the same symptoms I do. Then, if they do, I shall have a doctor set me straight.
Oh, and strangely enough, I really calmed down about all while grocery shopping. Something about being around all that good food I guess. 🙂 Oh well, I’m feeling back to “normal” today and hopefully I won’t stress about this anymore till I have something confirmed by someone who knows what they’re talking about.
In other news, my cats say meow; Kill Bill comes out today and I really want to see it; FFXI is pointless until the retail version comes out (I’m a beta tester); Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is progressing well – 87 missions down, quite a bit to go; and I need to play some more DRRMAX2.
Oh well, guess I’ll get back to work now. 🙂

  1. Welcome to my world. ^^
The good news I have for you. If you have ADD, there are many otions to treat it. There’s no cure, obviously, but medication does wonders.
I feel so productive lately, it’s amazing. My handwriting has also regained some style. That’s probably the weirdest thing about the whole thing, IMO. ;>

  2. Heh, well that’s good to hear. I’m just nervous to go to a doctor since I’m worried I’ll either A) be laughed at, or B) get told I don’t have it when I really do or vice versa.
    Yeah, I’m weird like that.

  3. Chris, I think you are an idiot… but that’s besides the point! 😉
And don’t worry, believe it or not I have a sneaky suspision that I have a very mild case of dyslexia.
